Principal Systems Administrator; Onsite

Position

Principal System Administrator – Principal Specialist, Information Workplace Services (P3), located in Andover, MA, United States.

This role supports Windows and Linux enterprise environments, designing, implementing, maintaining, patching, and troubleshooting infrastructure across classified programs. The administrator will operate 24x7x365 in a DoD closed‑area environment, ensuring compliance with security requirements and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

• Design, implement, maintain, patch, and troubleshoot Windows, RHEL, and virtualized infrastructure.
• Perform Windows and Linux patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities, including STIG/EVAL STIG implementation, SCAP/ACAS support, and log collection.
• Coordinate with Cyber Security teams to maintain continuous compliance with DoD and regulatory requirements.
• Design, deploy, and maintain VMware ESXi and vCenter virtual infrastructure, managing VM lifecycle, host upgrades, performance tuning, and production workload support.
• Administer core Windows services and integrations, including Active Directory, Group Policy, secure system configurations, certificate‑based authentication, and custom user environments.
• Collaborate with Digital Technology, Engineering, Cyber Security, Networking, Storage, and Tools teams to resolve complex infrastructure, integration, and compliance challenges.
• Support planned and emergent operational needs on‑site, including occasional after‑hours support and up to 10% travel.

• U.S. citizenship required; U.S. government‑issued, transferable Secret security clearance required before start date.
• University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Experience configuring, administering, securing, and hardening Windows and RHEL servers.
• Experience with VMware virtualization and enterprise Windows services such as Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Experience supporting SIPRNET environments is preferred.
• Experience as a technical SME or primary point of contact for patching, vulnerability remediation, or compliance initiatives.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity and compliance tools (ACAS, SCAP, Splunk, STIG Viewer) and audit support processes.
• Prior experience supporting DoD, defense, or highly regulated environments.
