Position Summary:The Procurement Lead, North American Manufacturing Sites is responsible for leading procurement operations and procurement transformation across Straumann's North American manufacturing network. The role combines seamless operational procurement management, local business partnering, change management, standardization and execution of global procurement strategies in a regulated manufacturing environment. The position acts as the key interface between manufacturing operations, local stakeholders, Global Category Management and Procurement Manufacturing.
It ensures that local business needs are translated into effective procurement solutions while driving adoption of global procurement policies, compliance basics, standard processes, supplier governance and procurement maturity across all sites.
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
1. Manufacturing business partnering and change management- Serve as the main procurement partner for Villeret and progressively build credibility and presence with other North American manufacturing site leadership teams.
- Understand manufacturing challenges, operational priorities and local business needs, then translate them into procurement actions and solutions.
- Earn the seat at the table by demonstrating operational reliability, business understanding and value creation.
- Lead change management required to move sites toward a consistent procurement operating model without disrupting manufacturing continuity.
- Ensure early procurement involvement in operational, quality, engineering, CAPEX, capacity, product transfer and supply continuity topics.
- Lead day-to-day procurement operations supporting manufacturing activities across the North American footprint.
- Ensure timely and accurate purchase requisition, purchase order and operational procurement management.
- Oversee procurement-related material master data governance, accuracy and maintenance.
- Drive service levels, process discipline and issue resolution for operational procurement activities.
- Continuously improve operational efficiency, transparency and reliability of procurement support to manufacturing.
- Drive adoption of global procurement policies, standards, procedures and systems across manufacturing sites.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, procurement governance and ethical sourcing requirements.
- Support Quality, Regulatory Affairs and medical device compliance requirements linked to suppliers and procurement processes.
- Ensure supplier qualification, supplier documentation and supplier governance requirements are followed in line with company standards.
- Support audits, inspections and corrective actions where procurement or suppliers are in scope.
- Act as the bridge between local manufacturing needs and Global Category Management strategies.
- Support local implementation of global and regional sourcing strategies, contracts and supplier decisions.
- Identify practical barriers to category strategy adoption and work with stakeholders to resolve them.
- Provide site and supplier input to category teams to ensure strategies reflect manufacturing realities.
- Promote alignment between site priorities, supplier decisions and enterprise-wide procurement objectives.
- Contribute to EBITDA improvement through savings delivery, cost avoidance, supplier negotiations and total cost of ownership improvements.
- Challenge spend, identify sourcing opportunities and support annual spend opportunity assessments.
- Manage relationships with selected strategic and operational suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, service, cost and responsiveness.
- Support supplier base optimization, supplier development and corrective actions where required.
