Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

Position SummaryBased in Andover, MA, the Maintenance Technician performs essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.
Essential Job Functions- Implement the facility’s preventative maintenance program.
- Conduct scheduled inspections of fluid levels, water flows, quench oils, filters, washer soap, and similar items; notify supervisor of issues as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in the Maintenance Department work area; promptly clean up after maintenance and repair work is completed within the facility.
- Assist in equipment performance testing per company wide and manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Perform corrective actions required for out‑of‑specification conditions as directed by supervisor.
- Assist in analytical troubleshooting of issues to maintain equipment, facilities and vehicles.
- Accurately record and document all completed maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
- Maintain shop copies of manuals and blueprints in a neat and organized manner; provide others with updated information as required.
- Run company errands and pick up equipment, materials, and supplies as required.
- Operate company vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
- Promptly report observed equipment, facility, and vehicle repair or maintenance needs to supervisor.
- Make suggestions for changes which would help the facility achieve improved efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Assist in maintaining the inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and replacement parts.
- Responsible for the care and treatment of customer inventory, performing duties safely to prevent customer loss or damage.
- Must have the ability to report to work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co‑workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident (ITAR compliance).
- Basic electrical skills AC/DC.
- Mechanically sound with hand and power tools.
- Experience with stainless gas piping/valves, water cooling systems, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, lock‑out/tag‑out.
- Confined‑space training is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum six months experience in heat treating.
- Knowledge of metallurgy and temperature controls.
- Willingness to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
- Forklift operation certification.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Available to work full‑time, Monday‑Friday 7am‑3pm.
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and basic physical.
- Position is safety‑sensitive; must adhere to safety procedures.
- Work standing for extended periods in an industrial environment.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, reach, and lift up to 35 lbs.
- Possible exposure to heat, fumes, noise, humidity.
- Capacity to perform essential job functions mentally and physically.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files.
- Auditory capability in person and via phone.
Hourly pay ranges from $27 to $37 per hour, determined by experience, skills, and qualifications. The role is non‑exempt and eligible for overtime pay under state and federal law. Shift differential is not offered.
