Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Department: Quality Control (QC)

Shift: 1st Shift – 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Location: Massachussets, United States

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing quality control testing and inspections on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The technician will work both in the QC laboratory and on the production floor, supporting manufacturing operations through testing, documentation, batch approvals, and process adjustments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform quality control testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods according to established procedures.
  • Work primarily in the QC laboratory while providing support on the manufacturing floor as required.
  • Create recommendations for batch adjustments based on inspection results, testing data, and historical trends.
  • Communicate batch adjustment recommendations to production operators and plant leadership.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine inspections and testing following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Approve batches for use on the production line after verifying compliance with quality specifications.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conforming materials, products, and processes.
  • Collect, label, retain, and maintain samples of raw materials and production batches for testing and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Maintain proper documentation and ensure retention samples are submitted as required.
  • Monitor QC equipment performance and report equipment malfunctions or supply shortages.
  • Accurately enter and maintain testing results in electronic databases, spreadsheets, and quality management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, GMP requirements, and quality standards.
  • Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Keep laboratory, production, and assigned work areas clean and organized.
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Additional Production Support Responsibilities
  • Prepare batch adjustments and tint colorants for batch additions.
  • Perform batch additions to in-process production batches.
  • Assist with blending, mixing, and manufacturing operations when required.
  • Support production teams during troubleshooting and quality-related investigations.
  • Work directly on the production floor to verify product quality and process consistency.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience as a Quality Control Technician, Laboratory Technician, or similar manufacturing quality role preferred.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with batch making, product testing, or process quality control is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles, testing methods, and documentation practices.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and work instructions accurately.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including spreadsheets, databases, and reporting tools.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculations and interpreting test results.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments and testing equipment accurately.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 70 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel, and climb throughout the shift.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be capable of working in varying temperatures and production conditions.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and interpret color variations accurately.
  • Must have 20/20 vision or corrected 20/20 vision.
Working Conditions
  • Manufacturing plant and laboratory environment.
  • Exposure to raw materials, chemicals, and production equipment.
  • Use of required PPE at all times in designated areas.
  • Fast-paced environment with production deadlines and quality standards.
  • Extended periods of standing and movement throughout the facility.
Preferred Experience
  • Quality Control or Laboratory Technician experience.
  • Batch making and blending operations experience.
  • Raw material and finished product testing experience.
  • Manufacturing, chemical, coatings, paint, or industrial production experience.
  • Experience working directly on production floors and supporting manufacturing operations.
