Job Summary

JLL is seeking an experienced and licensed Wastewater Operator to support daily Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations and Maintenance at a premier pharmaceutical life sciences facility. The role requires technical expertise, a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance, and the ability to manage industrial and sanitary wastewater to meet regulatory discharge standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate wastewater treatment systems including biological and chemical treatment, filtration and disinfection processes to maintain 100% uptime.
  • Monitor and adjust treatment parameters (pH, dissolved oxygen, suspended solids, BOD/COD) to maintain optimal performance.
  • Conduct regular inspections of treatment equipment and perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Proactively identify equipment deficiencies and material requirements, escalating concerns to Facility Management with detailed assessments.
  • Respond to process upsets, alarms, and emergency situations to prevent discharge violations.
  • Perform comprehensive preventive maintenance tasks with minimal disruption to critical manufacturing operations.
  • Document all operational activities, readings and adjustments in daily logs and a centralized CMMS platform for regulatory reporting and permit renewals.
  • Ensure compliance with facility environmental permits, local sewer authority requirements and GMP guidelines.
  • Prepare work orders for servicing and repairs, and coordinate major repairs with third‑party vendors.
  • Interpret and apply technical specifications from engineering drawings and laboratory test results to meet regulatory standards.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all safety protocols including lock‑out/tag‑out, confined space entry, chemical handling procedures and GMP guidelines.
  • Achieve timely completion of assignments according to defined SLAs and quality audits.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance preventive maintenance procedures and drive cost savings.
  • Follow site‑specific SOPs consistently.
Other Core Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate exemplary adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and pharmaceutical manufacturing standards.
  • Interact with client representatives professionally, demonstrating strong communication skills and a positive, service‑oriented attitude.
  • Participate in performance reviews and audits based on workmanship quality, safety and compliance metrics.
  • Maintain required Training Contact Hours (TCHs).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support facility operations.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum Active Massachusetts Grade 1 Industrial (full status) Wastewater Operator License.
  • Prior experience working in Wastewater Treatment Plant operation.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with troubleshooting and basic repair of wastewater treatment mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with all tools, equipment and materials used for repairs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Project Management and Organizational Skills to meet timely deliverables.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to interface across all organizational levels and Client Key Stakeholders.
  • Documented track record of delivering superior internal and external customer service.
  • Self‑directed work ethic with strong critical thinking and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Availability for scheduled overtime on evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform other physical tasks required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a GMP Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Environment.
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls for on‑site service.
Work Schedule

1st Shift: Monday to Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm.

Compensation

Estimated salary range: $66,560.00 – $79,040.00 USD per year.

Location

On‑site – Andover, MA.
