The Sandblast & Etch Technician is responsible for performing surface preparation and etching processes on dental devices and components in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role operates sandblasting and chemical etching equipment to ensure product surfaces meet defined specifications for quality, performance, and biocompatibility. The technician works in compliance with FDA Quality System Regulations (21 CFR Part 820), ISO 13485 standards, ISO 14001 standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company procedures.

The Sandblast & Etch Technician supports production efficiency, maintains process consistency, and ensures all activities are completed safely and accurately within controlled manufacturing conditions.

• Operate sandblasting, etching, and surface treatment equipment according to approved work instructions, SOPs, and production travelers.
• Prepare dental devices and components for surface treatment processes, including cleaning, masking, loading, and unloading materials.
• Monitor and control process parameters such as pressure, media flow, exposure time, chemical concentrations, and equipment settings.
• Inspect treated components to verify conformance to surface finish, texture, and dimensional specifications.
• Perform routine equipment setup, maintenance, calibration checks, and cleaning activities.
• Maintain accurate production records, batch documentation, and inspection data in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Follow FDA, ISO 13485, GMP, environmental health, and safety requirements.
• Handle chemicals, abrasives, and hazardous materials safely using required PPE and safety protocols.
• Identify and report process deviations, nonconformances, equipment issues, or quality concerns to supervision and Quality Assurance.
• Support investigations, CAPA activities, and corrective actions as assigned.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S and clean manufacturing standards.
• Assist with inventory management of blasting media, chemicals, tooling, and production supplies.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, safety, and process efficiency.
• Support cross-functional production activities as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Stand or walk for extended periods.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Bend, squat, and reach to retrieve product.
• Utilize dexterity abilities to handle inventory, operate machinery, type on a computer, and perform tasks such as packing, unpacking, and sorting items.
• Spend significant time reading both on paper and on a computer.

• The work environment involves working with abrasive blasting equipment/media and concentrated, hot acid mixtures adherence to personal protective equipment requirements and operational work instructions is essential.
• Noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of manufacturing experience preferred, ideally in medical device, dental device, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environments.

• Technical training or vocational certification in manufacturing, machining, or industrial processing.
• Experience with sandblasting, abrasive finishing, chemical etching, or surface treatment processes.
• Experience working in FDA- or ISO-regulated environments.

Salary: $24.00 - $28.00/hour. The final pay for this position will vary based on geographic location and candidate experience relative to what the company reasonably anticipates for this position.
