Position Summary
The Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing day-to-day Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, ISO 14001 requirements, and company policies. The position independently manages assigned EHS programs and partners with all departments to ensure regulatory compliance, drive continuous improvement, reduce environmental impacts, and foster a proactive safety culture.
Job Responsibilities- Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, DEP, DOT, RCRA and applicable environmental regulations.
- Assist with regulatory inspections and third-party audits.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports including OSHA, EPA, DEP, TRI, TURA, hazardous waste, and other environmental compliance reports and permits, as applicable.
- Coordinate ISO 14001 Environmental Management System activities.
- Maintain environmental objectives, KPIs and action plans.
- Support sustainability initiatives including waste reduction, recycling, VOC reduction and greenhouse gas reduction projects.
- Monitor environmental performance indicators.
- Coordinate hazardous waste management, inspections, manifests and vendor activities.
- Manage recycling and universal waste programs.
- Develop, deliver and update EHS training, including applicable procedures and work instructions.
- Conduct risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses.
- Manage PPE assessments and coordinate industrial hygiene monitoring.
- Perform ergonomic evaluations and lead routine workplace inspections.
- Support contractor safety.
- Lead incident investigations involving injuries, near misses, environmental events, and property damage.
- Perform root cause analysis and track corrective actions to completion.
- Maintain OSHA injury logs and workers' compensation documentation.
- Analyze injury trends.
- Maintain and update controlled documents, training records, procedures and work instructions.
- Manage chemical approval processes, SDS reviews, and chemical inventory.
- Review new equipment, processes, and facility modifications to ensure EHS compliance and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate emergency response drills.
- Maintain emergency equipment inspections.
- Coordinate occupational health programs, including First Aid/CPR, AED, and medical emergency preparedness.
- Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team and coordinate emergency preparedness activities.
- Develop, analyze, and communicate EHS performance metrics and key performance indicators to leadership.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve environmental performance and workplace safety.
Provides technical guidance and EHS leadership across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Facilities, and other functional departments. May lead cross-functional teams in support of EHS initiatives and regulatory compliance projects.

- Utilize dexterity abilities to perform typing, operate a computer and other office equipment, to perform filing, and related job responsibilities and attention to detail competence.
- Spend significant time reading both on paper and on a computer.
- Frequent exposure to manufacturing operations involving machinery, chemicals, compressed gases, and moving equipment.
- General office and manufacturing environments.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Donning of personal protective equipment as required and as posted in selected areas of the site where hazardous materials and equipment are in use.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
- 1+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, ISO 14001, and applicable environmental regulations.
- Experience leading investigations and corrective actions.
Preferred Qualifications- Ability to work independently with general supervision.
- Knowledge of FDA-regulated manufacturing.
- Professional certification such as ASP, CSP, CHMM, or CIH preferred.
