Job Overview
Working under the directives and goals set forth by the Regional Mortgage Development Manager, the Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) is responsible for the production of mortgage originations within the assigned geography and for ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities- Meet assigned mortgage origination sales quotas.
- Develop, maintain, and leverage a referral source network for mortgage sales, including realtors, builders, financial advisors, CPAs, lawyers and community leaders.
- Participate in outside sales calls, business development calls to real‑estate agents, contractors, developers, COI contacts, settlement agents (attorney firms), CEU classes, real‑estate agency staff meetings, attend closings, and attend real‑estate monthly Board Meetings.
- Conduct research, prepare proposals, follow up to confirm data, meet clients face‑to‑face to describe products, obtain financial data, and complete applications.
- Resolve problems, review construction contracts, and document for underwriting conditions.
- Maintain ongoing communication with customers.
- Work with the Regional Mortgage Development Manager to execute sales and marketing campaigns that increase deal flow and establish Bangor Savings Bank as “The Preferred Lender” in the assigned market.
- Focus on growing the BSB Brand by developing new mortgage sales leads, referral sources, direct customer contact, and enhancing BSB’s level of mortgage sales service to business customers and partners.
- Ensure timely delivery of pre‑qualification and residential mortgage applications.
- Maintain and increase working knowledge of products.
- Serve as the Residential Mortgage Loan Officer for the Branch network within the assigned territory, providing services from internal business partners to maximize the customer experience.
- Coordinate activities with Branch partners and identify prospects for cross‑sales opportunities.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College, Business or Banking professional training helpful.
- Two or more years of mortgage origination and credit‑related experience required.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- Active and valid Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) number required.
- Demonstrated personal computer literacy.
- Ability to handle complex problems.
- Self‑directed, able to plan own activities to achieve sales goals.
- Strong time‑management skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Frequent travel in designated market area with own vehicle.
- Current driver’s license required.
- Primary office environment.
- Moderate lifting (to 35 lbs.), moderate reaching, walking, sitting and standing.
- General office equipment and internal/external applications.
