Responsibilities
  • Safely works from engineering drawings, sketches, and verbal direction to perform installation, maintenance, and repairs for all aspects of HVAC/R.
  • Troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, and installs DDC control systems and supports the site EMS.
  • Performs installation and modification of HVAC-related piping, rooftop units, chillers, pumps, motors, belts, pulleys, shives, bearings, air filters, compressors, valves, split systems, cooling towers, humidity controls, and pneumatic controls.
  • Calculates heating/cooling load and performs humidity load calculations.
  • Maintains exhaust fans, air handlers, and other refrigeration equipment.
  • Maintains, repairs, and adjusts oil/gas burners; annually cleans heating boiler combustion chambers and flues.
  • Initiates follow‑up actions as required after troubleshooting HVAC/R malfunctions.
  • Maintains, repairs, and replaces controls, including DDC and pneumatic systems.
  • Maintains compressors, troubleshooting and replacing pumps, motors, belts, pulleys, shives, and bearings as necessary.
  • Regulates and maintains climate control for facility and manufacturing process needs.
  • Conducts daily inspections and repairs; installs and modifies HVAC piping as needed.
  • Calculates head load and provides data regarding modification needs.
  • Notifies supervision of major or extensive repairs or modifications.
  • Retrieves materials and stock for assigned work and maintains a clean work area.
  • Performs general maintenance, housekeeping, and tool/equipment care.
  • Maintains records, moves materials, and follows safety rules during duties.
  • Performs other similar duties as required or directed.
Tools and Equipment
  • Hand and power tools for HVAC/R trade (e.g., pipe cutting, bending, flaring, soldering)
  • Recovery and reclaim, refrigerant manifolds, pressure regulators, vacuum pumps, oil pumps, digital scales, psychrometer, thermal imaging, electric drills
  • Wheel pullers, step ladders, extension ladders, pry bars, etc.
  • Leak detectors, pressure gauges, air flow meters/hoods, multimeters, brazing equipment, reamers, and aerial/scissor lifts
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, Equivalency (GED or HiSET) or two (2) years’ trade school experience.
  • Current Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician’s license.
  • Current #608 EPA Universal Certification.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Works well with others.
  • Track record of being reliable and dependable.
  • Available to travel and have reliable transportation for alternate center assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, read, and interpret safety procedures.
  • Trade school experience.
Compensation and Benefits

Starting Wage: $48.46 per hour (first shift – 6:00am to 2:30pm). This position is eligible for a $10,000 Sign‑On Bonus.

Clearance Information

This position requires a DoD Confidential security clearance. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance and be U.S. citizens.

Other Information

Position is part of a collective bargaining agreement. Wage and workplace conditions, including shift times, are subject to this agreement, and individuals hired in this position will be represented by a union. RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
