Become an Autism Coach and help individuals with Autism navigate their world with Northeast Arc in Andover, MA and the surrounding areas.

The Guided Personal Support (GPS) Program is a combination of SSQUAL contracts (Enhanced Family Support for Adults) from the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) focusing on preparing individuals to acquire skills across various aspects of their lives for greater independence. All referrals come from DDS.

Autism Coaches help clients through a life plan, working on skills such as social, relationships, employment, education, and more. The program also includes a pre‑engagement coaching phase for clients struggling to connect with a provider, building initial relationships before setting goals.

Job Summary

Autism Coaches support individuals to meet their personal goals and operate independently with clients in the community.

Major Responsibilities
  • Provides individualized supports to clients for fostering community inclusion, building relationships, and independence.
  • Teaches specific skills and behaviors, such as executive functioning and relational boundaries, according to goals identified in the individual’s plan.
  • Communicates with Supervisor regularly about progress, challenges, and goals.
  • Completes and submits all required paperwork (time sheets, incident reports) timely and per program and agency policy.
  • Uses personal vehicle (when applicable) to transport clients to community activities.
  • Provides mandated reporting consistent with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 119, Sections 51A‑51G.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year working with an individual with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team‑building skills.
  • Comfortable working in home or community settings.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to stand for at least 80% of the day.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Schedule

2 to 6 hours a week, based on client needs and availability.

Pay Rate

$25‑$45 per hour depending on education and experience.
