This hybrid role is within the Land Warfare and Missile Defense Systems organization. It requires experience in Internet Protocol (IP) networks and software engineering using Python to drive the design and development of world‑class air and missile defense communication systems. The position involves managing the full product development lifecycle, providing ongoing support for custom Patriot Communications System management software, and leading a small team of engineers.
WhatYou Will Do
- Perform extensive hands‑on work in development and test labs with communications hardware, supporting activities such as development, testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing product support.
- Design and optimize IP communications network architectures to meet the unique requirements of the Patriot system.
- Develop configurations and settings for individual communications devices across a wide range of hardware.
- Create orchestration and automation solutions to enable efficient software management of the communications system and its associated devices.
- Develop software in Python.
- Provide ongoing technical support to various Patriot Communication Systems around the world.
- Assist in the development and mentoring of new team members, fostering knowledge sharing and team growth.
- Provide technical leadership to a small team of engineers supporting communication software application development for an individual Patriot program(s).
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
- Software application development experience using Python or comparable programming languages.
- Experience in Patriot Program (or similar program) system design, development, integration/verification, and sustainment.
- Experience with Voice over IP (VoIP) communication design, configuration, and integration. Certifications in IP networking (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) is a plus.
- Experience with cyber secure communications design, configuration, and integration.
- Experience in development and deployment of software applications on cyber‑hardened Linux operating systems.
- Experience with automated test development of both hardware and software.
