The role and responsibilities

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take a leading role within the commercial team, ensuring effective financial management and supporting successful project delivery. You will be doing the following:

  • Leading applications, valuations, and commercial reporting processes
  • Managing project costing, forecasting, and income optimisation
  • Overseeing change control systems and project risk management
  • Producing and reviewing Cost to Complete (CTC) and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
  • Managing the full subcontract lifecycle, from procurement through to final account
  • Providing strategic commercial advice to project and senior leadership teams
  • Leading on dispute resolution and contract negotiations
  • Supporting and guiding Assistant and Quantity Surveyors within the team
  • Contributing to tendering and pre‑construction commercial input
  • Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors
  • Travelling to projects across the UK, including occasional overnight stays
Must have skills and experience
  • Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or an experienced Quantity Surveyor ready to step up
  • Degree, HND or HNC in a relevant discipline
  • Progress towards or achievement of a professional qualification (e.g. RICS or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial systems
  • Demonstrable leadership, mentoring, and team development experience
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
