Swim Instructor; Seasonal

Pool is open 7 days a week, 8:00 am – 8:00 p.m. Day, evening, and weekend work will be required (hours will vary).

Pre-season training will be required—determined after hiring.

Provide instruction for the Learn-to-Swim Program. This is an outdoor position which requires adapting to a variety of conditions.

• Provide outstanding learning experience in swimming and water safety skills for all levels.
• Teach lessons with the approved format per the American Red Cross.
• Evaluate participants on skill knowledge.
• Guide water safety aids in the instruction of students.
• Provide pleasant and approachable customer service.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:

• Must be 16 years old or older (Red Cross requirement).
• Holds a Water Safety Instructor Certificate or obtain shortly after being hired.
• Holds a Certificate of First Aid and CPR or obtains shortly after being hired.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must be kind, energetic, and outgoing.
• Ability to interact with all ages and abilities.
• Day and evening work is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching swimming in a variety of settings.
• Experience in adapting swimming instruction to a variety of disabilities.
• Experience in the supervision of teaching assistants.

• Start: $16.00
• After 1 year: $17.00
• After 2 years: $18.00
