Job Summary

The Production Lead supports daily manufacturing operations by providing hands-on leadership and technical guidance to production teams within a high-reliability electronics manufacturing environment. This role serves as the first point of contact on the production floor, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards, work instructions, and regulatory requirements. The Production Lead works closely with the operations manager to execute production schedules, resolve issues in real time, and promote a culture of quality and accountability.

  • Lead and coordinate daily production activities for assigned work areas or shifts
  • Act as a working lead by performing production tasks while guiding and supporting team members
  • Ensure adherence to documented work instructions, SOPs, IPC standards, J-STD-001 requirements, and ESD protocols
  • Assist with employee training, onboarding, and cross-training to ensure skill coverage and flexibility
  • Monitor production flow, identify bottlenecks, and elevate issues to the operations manager as needed.
  • Verify product quality at various stages of production and ensure defects are addressed promptly
  • Support production scheduling by prioritizing work orders and allocating tasks based on skill level and workload
  • Communicate production goals, expectations, and updates during daily huddles or shift meetings
  • Assist with documentation, production tracking, and reporting of output, scrap, and rework
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and workflow
Requirements

Education & Qualification

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical training or coursework in electronics manufacturing preferred

Work Experience – Technical knowledge

  • 2–4 years of experience in electronics manufacturing (PCBA, cable/harness assembly, box build, or test)
  • Prior lead, trainer, or informal leadership experience preferred

Professional Skills

  • Strong understanding of electronics assembly processes and quality requirements
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation, work instructions, and drawings

Behavioral / Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead by example and foster teamwork
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to take initiative and support continuous improvement

Preferred Skills

  • IPC certifications (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) preferred

Physical Demand

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on the production floor for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25–40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing/production floor with exposure to machinery, noise, and assembly equipment

Safety Requirement

  • Compliance with all company safety policies and procedures
