Panel / Machine Building Technician

This role focuses on building custom electrical panels and machines, assembling electrical and electronic components, and troubleshooting control systems using blueprints and schematics. You will lay out and assemble panels, wire components, and ensure that completed assemblies meet quality and safety standards while supporting a growing division within a larger, established organization.

Responsibilities
  • Perform panel layouts and assembly for custom panel building projects.
  • Build and assemble machines and high-level assemblies according to engineering specifications.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics to complete panel and machine builds accurately.
  • Wire switches, circuit breakers, PLCs, and other electrical components within control panels and machines.
  • Troubleshoot electrical panels, including wiring issues, switches, circuit breakers, and PLCs, to identify and resolve faults.
  • Verify that all electrical assemblies comply with applicable standards and internal quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and engineering staff to clarify schematics, resolve build issues, and improve panel layouts.
  • Maintain an organized work area and ensure that tools, materials, and components are handled safely and efficiently.
  • Document work performed, including modifications or corrections made during panel and machine builds.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on build processes, schematics, and panel designs.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in interpreting and working from electrical blueprints and schematics.
  • Hands‑on experience with panel building and machine building.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including troubleshooting of PLCs, wiring, switches, and circuit breakers.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting in a panel or machine‑building environment.
  • Ability to perform electrical assembly and wiring for control panels and machines.
  • At least 2 years of combined experience in panel building, machine building, and high‑level assembly.
  • Ability to work independently from schematics and blueprints to complete custom panel projects.
  • Solid understanding of safe electrical work practices in a shop environment.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • UL508 panel experience (preferred).
  • Technical schooling or formal training in automation or robotics (nice to have).
  • Experience working with custom panel building projects from concept to completed assembly.
  • Familiarity with shop tools and equipment used for panel and machine assembly.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers, technicians, and other team members.

Work

Environment

This position is based in a shop environment on a first‑shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. You will work around electrical panels, machines, and standard shop tools while assembling and troubleshooting equipment. The environment is hands‑on and production‑focused, with regular interaction with other technicians and engineering personnel. Work involves standing for extended periods, using hand and power tools, and handling electrical components in a structured, safety‑conscious setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.92 - $38.40/hr.
