** Position Description
** We are inviting professional and positive individuals to join the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office as a Background Investigator. This is a temporary, part time, non-exempt, on-site position.
** Pay & Benefits
*** Hiring Range: $35.05 per hour.
* Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 32: $31.00 to $43.38 per hour.

** Work Location
*** This position will work from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, located at 13301 Hanson Blvd NW, Andover, MN 55304.
** Job Duties and Responsibilities*
* * These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Background Investigator.
** Perform moderately complex investigative and administrative tasks to determine employment suitability for county employees and contractors.
* Conduct criminal background checks, driving record checks, investigations, and examinations of applicants.
* Conduct comprehensive face-to-face interviews and background investigations on applicants and contractors.
* Keep management informed on the status of the background check and the candidate’s eligibility.
* Serve as the point of contact for candidates to provide them status updates on the investigation, answer questions, address concerns and advise on the outcome.
* Document all report information in a clear and concise manner.
** Qualifications and Requirements:
**** Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
*** Requires an Associate degree and at least 2 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.
* In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
* Previous experience in sworn law enforcement.
** Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
*** Degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or related field.
* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
* Ability to interact with a variety of individuals and personalities.
* Strong communication and writing skills.
** Physical Demands and Work Conditions
*** Standard office environment, travel to various county work sites and meetings as needed.
* Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades and brightness.
* Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.
* Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities.
* Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work.
* Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.
* Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
* Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
* Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
