Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovations they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply‑chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to deliver safety, security, capacity, and cost efficiency for our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Provide full life‑cycle support to AWS data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.
- Serve as the go‑to engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed.
- Lead engineering audits—including on‑site visits within Amazon data centers—to produce risk assessments and recommend mitigations.
- Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.
- Troubleshoot site and equipment failures, conduct root‑cause analysis, and create corrective action documentation.
- Directly support operational issues with ad‑hoc training and complex operating procedure reviews of critical equipment and event support.
- Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency, and enhance sustainability.
- Interface with internal data center operations, design engineering, server hardware, environmental health and safety teams to promote consistent reliability standards.
- Develop innovative solutions for AWS data centers.
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
- Strong engineering judgement, able to provide recommendations despite ambiguity.
- Detail‑ and data‑oriented.
- Experience solving problems with engineered solutions.
- Experience managing engineering projects and consultants.
- Build trust and relationships with stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Controls, Construction, Design, Commissioning, Product Managers, Technical Program Managers).
- Adaptable and inclined to get into the field to see things up close.
- Excited about a mix of office and field work.
The base salary range for this position is 96,600.00‑ USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
