Job Summary

  • Coordinate and provide environmental technical support to field operations, engineering, & regulatory personnel
  • This position is a field-based position that manages environmental compliance and requires strong communication skills between the Houston office and field operations staff
  • Perform job functions independently and able to manage task assignment and completion with limited supervision

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, permits, authorizations, and agreements.
  • Provide knowledge and expertise across all environmental media and programs, including Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and applicable waste management requirements.
  • Participate in the project planning and development through all stages to facilitate communication of project impacts between all stakeholders.
  • Manages consultants as required in the development of remediation and soil/groundwater cleanup projects.
  • Responds to active releases and supports spill response and cleanup efforts.
  • Coordinates routine compliance inspections with operations for air permits and participates in external audits as required.
  • Serves as a member of the company's emergency response team and be involved in the spill management program.
  • Investigates accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures, corrective actions, and developing safety program.
  • Adheres to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.
  • Supports company vision and mission.
  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop tools and templates to manage the collection of environmental compliance information.
  • Ability to be available 24hrs per day (on call questions, emergencies, etc).
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years related work experience in an environmental specialist/compliance role is typical for this position, but years in the position is not as relevant as the application of knowledge and experience.
Preferred
  • Oil & Gas, Petro Chemical, or midstream experience
  • Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software
  • Experience interacting, advising, negotiating, and communicating effectively
  • Experience with soil and groundwater sampling techniques and protocols
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and standards and their applicability to operations
  • Ability to evaluate, research, and interpret governmental regulations, equipment performance manuals, regulatory agency guidance and instructions, reports, correspondence, and company policies and procedures
  • Ability to apply math, algebraic formulas, calculus, and statistics
  • Ability to communicate and/or exchange information
  • Ability to communicate effectively through the development of written communication that applies fundamental technical writing skills
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment required
  • Ability to collect environmental field samples (air, water, and waste) for analysis
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in an environmental science/engineering and/or related technical discipline or equivalent combination of formal education and job-related experience.
