System Administrator Master
Seeking an AIX/UNIX Professional to join and expand our distinguished Systems Administrator (SA) team to operate and maintain a financial system utilized throughout the USAF. The qualified candidate will provide IT support for the Automated Budget Interactive Data Environment System (ABIDES), including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting for AIX 7.1 on IBM Blade Center JS21 servers and Linux 7x. ABIDES also utilizes Ingres 11.0. The ideal candidate will recommend hardware & software purchases, coordinate installation, and manage backup recovery.
They will monitor policies and standards for computing resource allocation. ABIDES is expected to upgrade to Program & Budget Enterprise Services (PBES) by February 2022, at which time ABIDES will be shut down.
- 6–8 years of professional IT experience
- 3 years of UNIX systems administration experience
- 1 year of AIX/Linux and IBM Blade Center server administration
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and principles
- Diagnosing and resolving server, storage, and network problems
- Self‑management of work assignments with minimal supervision
- Direct support of end users and factory support for system issues
- Vendor coordination for hardware and software maintenance
- Configuration and maintenance of computer and storage resources to system baseline, plus troubleshooting and restoration during failures
- Proactive goal setting and pursuit of necessary actions
- On‑call readiness and carrying an on‑call cellphone during non‑working hours
- Availability for off‑hour and weekend shifts as required
- Experience with Windows operating systems
- Experience in operational government environments
BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
