Airport Manager
The Airport Manager plans, directs, and coordinates airport operations and maintenance activities in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as policies established by governing authorities. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained airport facilities and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Consult with Commissioners Court members, governmental agencies, pilots, and aircraft owners regarding airport operations, facility design and development, and operational rules, regulations, and procedures for various aircraft.
- Develop and implement procedures for emergency situations, including aircraft accidents, fires, and other incidents.
- Inspect airport facilities, including runways, buildings, lighting systems, beacons, and equipment, to identify needed repairs, improvements, and cleanliness issues.
- Coordinate, direct, and assist personnel with airport repairs, maintenance activities, and operational procedures.
- Prepare and manage the airport budget; maintain purchasing records, financial reports, and employee time records.
- Provide aircraft accommodations, including servicing and assisting with arrangements for arrivals and departures.
- Work closely with the Andrews County Commissioners’ Court to keep them informed of current airport conditions, needs, and operational issues.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Five (5) years of experience in airport operations or procedures preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with the public and fellow employees
- Stand and walk for the majority of the work shift on concrete and outdoor surfaces.
- Lift and carry supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally climb up to six (6) feet to service aircraft or facilities.
- Bend, twist, stoop, reach, and rotate the upper torso while performing job duties.
- Maintain corrected vision sufficient to be aware of surroundings and perform required tasks.
- Maintain corrected hearing sufficient to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and the public and to remain aware of environmental sounds.
- Perform handling tasks using one or both hands, depending on the object and task.
- Communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
- Remain mentally alert with the ability to remember faces, names, instructions, and details.
- Work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, wind, dust, fumes, and paint.
- Remain alert to identify hazards and take appropriate corrective action or report issues immediately.
