Job Description

Under general supervision, develop and implement educational programs and/or services that produce significant positive impacts for stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

People

* Effectively engage volunteers to improve and increase educational programming.

* Identify faculty/staff training needs and deliver or facilitate the delivery of training, employing train-the-trainer methods where appropriate.

Programs

* Work to effectively coordinate and integrate programs relevant to subject matter expertise.

* Engage with clientele and targeted audiences to prioritize issues and develop effective and relevant educational programs, products and/or services to meet the expectations of stakeholders.

* Develop effective learning environments for adult and youth audiences.

* Effectively utilize evaluations to assess program impacts.

* Produce programmatic reports which effectively document program impacts.

* Provide expertise for disciplinary, multi-disciplinary and/or interdisciplinary programming and projects of the agency.

* Evaluate the impact of regional Extension programming, including pre/post surveys, knowledge-gain assessments, and long-term outcome measures.

* Prepare an annual in-depth outcome report for at least one signature program.

* Maintain accurate documentation of events, participation, and outcomes to support program accountability.

* Regional Beekeeper Support & Technical Expertise

* Provide regional technical expertise on honey bee management, colony health, and IPM strategies.

* Work directly with beekeepers, fruit & vegetable producers, home gardeners, and other stakeholders to address management issues and provide evidence-based recommendations.

* Support and expand Extension apiary programming within the region, ensuring timely, accurate guidance on beekeeping practices.

Partnerships

* Contribute to grant proposals and execution of grants.

* Grant Writing, Resource Development & Funding Acquisition

* Identify and pursue funding opportunities from state, federal, regional, and industry sources that support honey bee education, research, and outreach.

* Assist with project development, budgeting, reporting, and communication with funders.

* Demonstrate effective working relationships with sponsors and donors, and secure and maintain support and resources for educational programs.

* Develop personal and organizational relationships with industry and other external groups to advance organizational goals.

* Contribute effectively to coordinated program efforts which extend beyond the department or unit.

* Coordinate and cooperate effectively with coworkers and partners to deliver effective educational programs and accomplish agency and departmental goals.

* Demonstrate commitment to the department, agency and discipline through service on committees and participation in activities that support these organizations.

* Establish a record of activity and recognition in professional and/or industry-related organizations that benefit Agri Life Extension's goals.

* Collaborate with Texas A&M Agri Life Extension and Research personnel across centers and campus on projects related to honey bee management, pollinator health, and IPM.

* Participate in and contribute to department, district, and statewide Extension team meetings.

* Attend conferences, trainings, and professional society meetings for ongoing professional development.

* Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the mission of Texas A&M Agri Life Extension, the Department of Entomology, and statewide pollinator programming.

Education and Experience:

* Master's degree in applicable field.

* Five or more years of related professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

* Knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet applications.

* Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

* Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills.

* Knowledge and expertise in honey bee biology and beekeeping.

* Knowledge of honey bee pests, pathogens, and diseases.

* Knowledge and experience in design, implementation and evaluation of educational programs.

* Experience in conducting applied field-oriented research related to honey bees and beekeeping.

* Ability to work closely with various audiences, communicate effectively (both oral and written), and function effectively as a team member or leader.

* Plan, conduct, and evaluate applied research/demonstrations
