Job Description Position Summary

As an Extruder Operator of our Night Shift, you'll be accountable for operating the Extruder and all of the auxiliary equipment included in the extrusion systems in the aquaculture feed plant. You must have thorough knowledge of the operation of the extruders, responsible for making the correct die selection for each feed run. The role requires strong mechanical ability and aptitude.

Sample of What You’ll Do in this Role
  • Set up the extruder control formula for the applicable feed needing to be produced according to the production schedule and directions provided by the supervisor while maintaining close communications with the mixer operator.
  • Make the correct die and screen selections for the size of feed being extruded.
  • Install and adjust the extruder knives in the required configuration.
  • Start the extruder efficiently and correctly to bring the rate to maximum with minimal waste of feed and time.
  • Make the correct settings on the dryer that accommodate the type and size of feed being extruded.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

What You Bring to the Role:

  • 4+ years of experience and must be at least 18 years of age
  • At least one year experience working in a feed mill environment performing extruder operator functions.
  • Ability to frequently climb ladders, work from heights, and lift or move up to 50 lbs. while working in a non-climate controlled and often dusty environment
  • Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions in English and complete the necessary documentation, including using basic math skills
  • Willing to work overtime hours as needed
  • High School Diploma or GED
