Summary
The Front Desk Attendant is responsible for the daily operation of the front desk, including cash handling, membership sales, and a good working knowledge of current and upcoming events. The attendant will monitor access to the Recreation Center, welcome guests, answer phones, and ensure the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies while delivering outstanding customer service.

- Oversee facility and enforce rules and regulations regarding proper use.
- Provide knowledgeable information to citizens regarding recreation programs, activities, trips, membership fees, and rental information.
- Arrange chairs, tables, sporting equipment, or exercise equipment in designated rooms or other areas for scheduled group activities such as banquets, parties, group meetings or events.
- Demonstrate proper methods of equipment storage and cleaning to safeguard facilities and equipment.
- Register customers for class memberships, evaluate class enrollments, notify patrons of activity schedules, registration requirements, and confirm or cancel classes as needed.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary facility. General maintenance includes cleaning the front desk area, counters, coffee area, floors, taking out trash and recycling, cleaning weight room equipment, restrooms, washing towels, mopping floors and other duties as assigned.
- Maintain a safe and controlled environment; identify or eliminate or minimize hazardous conditions.
- Monitor access to the Recreation Center by ensuring memberships are current and others are paying for day use and signing in before granting admission to the facility.
- Issue equipment for participants to use and keep track of the inventory. Upon returning equipment, the attendant will check it to ensure it has not been damaged.
- Sell designated products to patrons while maintaining a balanced cash register.
- Keep non-public areas secure at all times.
- Be prepared and organized.
- Recognize and respond effectively to incidents and emergencies. When necessary, provide proper emergency care (first aid, CPR, AED).
- Expected to report to work free from the effects of illegal drugs or alcohol and free from impairment due to prescription drugs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
Special License, Certifications and Designations- Valid, Class “C” Texas Driver’s License.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or the ability to obtain during staff training that is held bi-annually.
This position frequently requires talking, hearing, and listening, as well as the ability to hear in a loud atmosphere over the phone, standing, walking, sitting, and using hands. It is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, bend, and lift or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
