Job Description - Manufacturing Engineer Intern
Machine Operators execute and optimize one or more manufacturing processes in the production of fluid mounts, torque rods, and related components. This role ensures safe, efficient machine operation while upholding the highest standards of safety and quality and consistently meeting production targets. Operators actively support lean manufacturing initiatives, apply disciplined execution practices, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Through collaboration across production, materials, and logistics teams, they help enhance safety performance, delivery reliability, and overall operational effectiveness.
WorkEnvironment
Manufacturing environment with potential exposure to heat, noise, dust, odors, moving equipment, and active production processes. Frequent interaction with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and engineering personnel throughout the facility. Regular travel between office and production areas is required. Appropriate PPE must be worn in designated work areas.
Key Responsibilities- Support Engineering and Operations with the design, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes
- Assist with troubleshooting production equipment and manufacturing systems
- Develop and update standardized work instructions and maintenance procedures
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Support equipment reliability and uptime improvement projects
- Support new equipment installations, documentation, training, and handoff activities
- Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Operations teams
- Gain exposure to PLCs, robotics, welding processes, and automated manufacturing equipment
- Maintain compliance with company quality, environmental, and safety standards
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Preferably two or more years remaining until graduation
- Previous manufacturing or technical experience preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with PLCs, robotics, or manufacturing environments preferred
- Understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T preferred
- Ability to move throughout the manufacturing facility safely and efficiently
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing stairs while supporting plant operations
- Occasional lifting and carrying of materials, tools, and equipment up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments for extended periods
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, and other PPE as required
- Visual acuity sufficient to review engineering drawings, analyze data, inspect equipment, and identify process or quality concerns
- Ability to occasionally work near moving mechanical equipment and active production processes while following all safety requirements
- Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment for extended periods of time
