Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or medical assistant program.
- Current LPN license in the State of Indiana. Certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant.
- Has general knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
- Has been educated in basic pharmacology and the administration of medications.
- CPR provider certification within 6 months.
- Current RN or LPN license in the state of Indiana.
- Previous clinical nursing experience preferred; urology or procedural experience strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
- Experience with the EPIC electronic medical record system preferred; training will be provided.
- Knowledge of sterile technique and procedural assistance.
- Familiarity with urology medications, catheter care, and specialty testing.
- Understanding medical documentation, coding, and charge entry.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong teamwork and patient-centered care standards.
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate RN or LPN to join our busy urology practice. This position plays a vital role in providing direct patient care, assisting with in-office procedures, coordinating treatments, patient education, and supporting overall clinic operations in a fast-paced specialty environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Procedures and Patient Care- Assist with and/or perform urology office procedures including: cystoscopy with/without stent removal, cystoscopy with stent removal, transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) of the prostate, TRUS with prostate biopsy, TRUS-guided aspiration of the prostate, TRUS-guided insertion of fiducial markers, vasectomy procedures, cord blocks, catheterization and catheter changes, suprapubic catheter changes, bladder irrigation, bladder scanning.
- Provide patient education and/or teaching for intracorporal injection therapy, testosterone injections, clean intermittent catheterization (CIC).
- Prepare procedure rooms, maintain sterile fields, assist providers during procedures, and complete post-procedure cleanup and instrument processing.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures or medication administration for adverse reactions or complications.
- Safely prepare and administer urology medications and therapies including hormonal therapy medications for prostate cancer.
- Coordinate intravesical bladder cancer treatments.
- Follow medication safety protocols, handling procedures, administration guidelines, and post-treatment monitoring requirements.
- Educate patients regarding medications, treatment expectations, side effects, and follow-up care.
- Accurately document medication administration, treatment details, and applicable coding/charges.
- Coordinate and process specialty diagnostic testing including evaluation of prostate/bladder cancer risk and stone risk assessment.
- Perform specimen collection, labeling, storage, shipping, and tracking according to laboratory requirements and regulatory standards.
- Perform and document clinic laboratory testing including point-of-care urinalysis, urine culture, microscopy, cytology coordination/collection with laboratory, urine cytology, prostate biopsy specimen handling.
- Complete accurate clinical documentation, charge capture, and coding support for procedures, injections, testing, and patient education.
- Maintain compliance with office policies, clinical protocols, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with surgery scheduling, procedure coordination, and obtaining necessary documentation or authorizations.
- Manage patient communication through phones, voicemail, and electronic in-basket messaging.
- Room patients, obtain histories and vital signs, reconcile medications, and prepare patients for provider evaluation.
- Assist with clinic flow, patient discharge instructions, follow-up scheduling, and care coordination.
- Collaborate effectively with providers, clinical staff, and administrative team members to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient office operations.
