This role plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth and efficient scheduling of staff to meet the needs of our residents. The Scheduler will work closely with the management team to maintain adequate staffing levels while adhering to labor laws and company policies.
Responsibilities and Duties- Create, maintain, and adjust staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
- Monitor and track staff attendance, tardiness, and shift swaps.
- Coordinate coverage for unplanned absences, vacations, or special events.
- Communicate schedule updates and changes promptly to staff members.
- Collaborate with department heads to forecast staffing needs based on census and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of schedules, hours worked, and shift changes.
- Assist with onboarding new staff by integrating them into the scheduling system.
- Monitor and manage overtime to ensure cost efficiency and compliance with labor policies.
- Ensure coverage during staff shortages by working on the floor when necessary.
- Provide regular reports to management on staffing trends and issues.
- Handle scheduling-related inquiries and resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in business administration or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in scheduling, staffing, or administrative roles, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Must have an active CMA certificate.
- Must hold an active CNA license in the state of Iowa.
- Familiarity with scheduling software and systems (experience with Paycom is a plus).

- Flexibility and willingness to step into caregiving roles as needed.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Use of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, including computers and phones.
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to work in an office environment with regular interruptions.
