Travel Expectations

Travel at Dean Snyder Construction is project driven and may vary over time. This position currently supports traveling industrial projects, however future assignments may offer opportunities for more regional or local work depending on project needs, availability, and experience.

Superintendent II

Job Summary

Position is responsible for directing the activities of construction crews and for supervising construction projects on a daily basis. Duties include initiating, carrying out, monitoring and assigning work to crews; working alongside crew members when needed; keeping jobs on schedule; performing inspections; training employees and providing technical advice to crews; evaluating employee performance and attendance, completing daily paperwork and approving time-cards.

Superintendent II is the party responsible for communicating with owner/customers, project manager, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. Assist in resolving safety issues and ensuring jobsites are in OSHA compliance. Responsible for supporting and promoting DSC culture through effective Leadership, Management, and Accountability (LMA). Enforcing company general and safety policies. The Superintendent II is the sixth level of an eight-level construction series.

Education/Experience

7+ years of commercial or industrial construction experience, with progressive field leadership responsibility.

  • 3+ years of experience leading projects as a Superintendent or comparable field leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex industrial, manufacturing, food & beverage, or similar construction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, sequencing, quality control, and jobsite safety.
  • Proven ability to coordinate subcontractors, field crews, vendors, and project teams while maintaining schedule and quality expectations.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Equivalent combination of field experience, leadership experience, and education will be considered.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Coordinating, scheduling and delegating tasks.
  • Serve as a working superintendent with knowledge of our self-performing trades, including carpentry, concrete, steel erection, and millwright services.
  • Functioning as a working superintendent.
  • Supervising and gaining respect of employees.
  • Inventorying supplies and materials.
  • Reading blueprints and engineering plans.
  • Inspecting job sites for safety compliance.
  • Communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving, as applied to interaction with coworkers, project managers, owners, subcontractors, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive or give work direction.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and meet the company’s Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) standards.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent physical activity like climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting, and using hands.
  • Work may involve exposure to mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, dust, chemicals, oils, harsh weather, poor lighting, tight spaces, and loud noise.
