Job SummaryProvides competency‑based quality instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical settings. Assignment may include evening or off‑campus teaching, multiple‑campus locations, individualized instruction, competency‑based instruction, and online/distance learning.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses in accordance with course competencies and syllabi.
- Develop and utilize a variety of instructional strategies, techniques and delivery methods designed to meet the individual learning styles of students.
- Foster a safe and civil learning environment.
- Develop and maintain current course syllabi and outlines; prepare lecture, lab and class materials.
- Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies.
- Work collegially in an academic environment; participate in college and program projects, events, and committee work, including advisory committee activities and advising student organizations.
- Monitor, evaluate, and document student attendance, progress and competency attainment; submit related reports as required.
- Maintain established office hours and be available to assist students outside of the classroom.
- Participate in the ongoing development and revision of curriculum and course materials and competencies, and in the selection of textbooks and other instructional materials/equipment.
- Advise students regarding their academic needs and refer them for additional assistance as needed.
- Promote the college and the program and assist in recruiting and marketing the program to prospective students.
- Participate in professional development activities and stay current in the field.
- Registered, certified, or licensed in the occupational area required by the state, and hold the appropriate registration, certification or license for the area taught.
- At least one of the following:
- Baccalaureate or graduate degree in the area of study or at least 18 credit hours completed in the CTE field of instruction, or a bachelor's degree in any area with the requisite credit hours.
- Associate degree in the CTE field considered terminal for that field, plus at least 3,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience in the area taught.
- Special training such as completion of a registered apprenticeship or journeyman status in a building trades union, U.S. Department of Labor–recognized apprenticeship, NCCER Core or Carpentry, or a diploma or certificate from a building trades program, plus at least 6,000 hours of relevant work experience in the occupational area or related area.
- If a licensed practitioner, relevant work experience may include classroom instruction in a CTE subject area offered by a school district or accredited nonpublic school.
- Ability to use and apply alternative instructional delivery systems to enhance learning.
- Experience in curriculum development and learning assessment.
