Salary: $12.50 per hour

Job Summary

The work study program provides funds for part‑time employment to help students finance the costs of postsecondary education. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study. It is designed to provide students with an opportunity for employment arranged around class schedules, while providing essential services to the College and the community.

Essential Functions
  • Assist instructors in preparing the lab environment for daily classes, including setting up materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Help maintain and clean lab machines, tools, and work spaces to support a safe and orderly environment.
  • Monitor inventory of tools, materials, and consumables; assist in organizing and restocking as needed.
  • Support students during lab sessions by answering basic questions and helping locate tools and resources.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as oiling machines, checking fluid levels, and reporting mechanical issues.
  • Help promote safe practices in the lab, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • May assist with machine setup and demonstration under instructor guidance.
  • Participate in open houses or outreach events to showcase the program when needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Foundational understanding of machining processes, including manual and CNC equipment.
  • Ability to assist with setup and maintenance of tools, machines, and lab materials.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with instructors and students.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to take initiative to identify and complete tasks in the lab.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Students currently enrolled in machining or manufacturing‑related coursework are encouraged to apply and will be considered as they build their skills through DMACC’s programs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM or CNC software.
  • Prior experience in a tool and die, machine shop, or educational lab.
Work Schedule

10 hours per week, between 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday – Friday.
