Job Summary
The part-time Orientation Advisor will work with Student Orientation and provide support in student navigation of online systems, coordination of welcome events, materials, logistics of the programs, and assisting students with their transition to DMACC.
Essential Functions- Assist with making necessary referrals to new and current students over all academic programs and advise students in all phases of academic and career planning, including program and course information, scheduling, registration, transfer requirements, and articulation agreements.
- Inform and advise prospective and current students in all phases of the orientation process for new students and those changing programs.
- Field a high volume of student inquiries related to various steps of the orientation and enrollment process.
- Assist with the coordination, organization, and logistics of on campus new student orientation sessions for students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge of current college educational and student services procedures and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from varied backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to prepare and deliver classroom presentations.
- Knowledge of current software applications.
- Experience and commitment to working with varied student populations.
- Experience delivering presentations to large groups.
- Knowledge of various technologies such as learning management systems.
Daytime hours, will vary between 7:30am to 4:30pm.
