Important Eligibility Notice: This position is strictly funded through the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program. To qualify, you must have a current FWS award as part of your financial aid package.

THIS VACANCY REQUIRES:

$12.50 per hour.
Job Summary
The work study program provides funds for part-time employment to help students finance the costs of postsecondary education. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study. The program is designed to provide students with an opportunity for employment arranged around class schedules, while providing essential services to the College and the community.
Essential Functions
Assist and student-lead the coordination DMACC’s National Crime Victims’ Rights Week in April, held annually.
Components of this project include:
Acting as a student leader to co-chair DMACC ad hoc National Crime Victims’ Rights Committee for 2027 events.
Receiving mentorship by psychology and criminal justice faculty.
Utilizing the NCVRW Teams site extensively to work and complete tasks (using Outlook, Excel, Word, and other apps as needed).
Growing knowledge about victim services, victim advocacy, and National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
Collaborating with other DMACC disciplines to increase engagement in the event.
Invite/Manage/Recruit other DMACC clubs/students to join this activity.
Increase partnerships in the community to expand activities across the DMACC district.
Updating DMACC NCVRW roster of agencies and entities.
Streamlining meetings and communication.
Assisting in budget development for proposal to the Executive Academic Dean.
Soliciting/finding funding for NCVRW events or materials.
Planning and covering events especially week of April 12, 2027 across the district.
Writing marketing/student success stories from NCVRW experiences (internships, jobs, etc.)
Drafting press releases/etc.
Other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Current student in good academic standing within a program in the Public and Community Services pathway or the Health Sciences and Fitness Pathway.
Commitment to both a fall and spring work study employment.
Specific interest in learning about victim services, victim advocacy, and National Crime Victims’ Rights.
Good communication skills and good problem-solving skills, both written and verbal.
Professional in demeanor and dress when meeting with other agencies or programs.
Must be intellectually curious and detail-oriented.
Familiar with Microsoft programs like Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, and curiosity to figure it out and improve skills.

10 hours per week. Days and times may varies. Hours start after 2:15 pm daily.
