Position Summary
The District Computer Technician provides technical support for all technology-related systems, hardware, and software across the district's schools. The role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing computers, network equipment, and other educational technology tools to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation. This individual works closely with faculty, staff, and students to address technology-related issues, helping to create a positive learning environment through efficient technology solutions.
Hourly Wage:Grade 8 - $27.12/hr.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, preferred. - 1-3 years of experience in IT support, preferably in an educational or school setting.
- Experience providing technical support, preferably in an educational or school district setting.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking.
- Familiarity with network troubleshooting and general IT support techniques.
- Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and other educational software tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift and transport equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in a variety of school environments.
Essential Functions
Technical Support
- Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting for desktop computers, laptops, printers, projectors, and other technology equipment.
Hardware Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform regular maintenance on district technology equipment, including diagnosing issues and conducting repairs or replacements.
- Install, configure, and maintain software applications for both administrative and educational use, ensuring all systems are up-to-date with the latest patches and updates.
Network Support
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of network systems and internet connectivity across the district.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate records of district technology inventory, including computers, peripherals, and other devices. Assist in the purchasing and allocation of new technology equipment.
Technical Assistance
- Assist in resolving escalated technical issues from users, collaborating with other IT staff to resolve more complex problems.
Documentation & Reporting
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including service logs, inventory records, and troubleshooting guides. Provide regular reports on system performance and repair activities to management.
Compliance & Security
- Ensure that district technology equipment complies with district policies, security protocols, and industry standards for data privacy and safety.
Other Functions
- Participate in staff development training programs, department meetings, and special events as assigned.
- Prioritize and respond to service requests based on urgency and district priorities.
- Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work without close supervision.
- Demonstrates integrity and maintains confidentiality.
- Works well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with school personnel.
- Is respectful and appropriately interacts with staff, students, and visitors.
- Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the Ankeny Community School District safety program.
