Overview

The IT Architect is responsible for building and maintaining technical designs in direct support of the lifecycle management of applications, technologies, security, and data across multiple products. The Architect partners with business representatives to understand product strategy and business roadmaps and works directly with software engineering teams to build technology roadmaps that realize business and technology requirements. Additionally, they work with solution architects to inform and improve solution and reference architecture artifacts.

The IT Architect is accountable for ensuring that software design and architecture patterns are realized within Casey's cloud, security, data, and governance standards design and will deliver end-to-end solution architectures across multiple domains. This role operates as a T-shaped architect, maintaining broad awareness of enterprise platforms, standards, and capabilities while providing deep solution architecture leadership within assigned products or domains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the solution architecture for assigned products, ensuring designs are scalable, secure, and implementable.
  • Collaborate with business and engineering stakeholders (e.g., the product teams) to understand required business capabilities and success criteria (business context).
  • Collaborate with other Enterprise Architects to leverage and improve reference architecture and contribute/own the design of solution architecture.
  • Identify, track, and manage enterprise technical debt, partnering with other Enterprise Architects and engineering teams to prioritize and remediate it within technology roadmaps.
  • Maintain awareness of enterprise architecture standards, cross-domain dependencies, and shared platforms to ensure solutions align and scale beyond individual products.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to break down solution architecture into design patterns that can be implemented successfully and iteratively, where possible.
  • Define and promote API and integration architecture patterns — API-first design, well-defined service contracts, event-driven and microservice integration, MACH principals and reusable services that scale across products.
  • Apply agentic and intelligent-automation architecture patterns — orchestration, tool and service invocation, retrieval and grounding, human-in-the-loop controls, and guardrails — where they advance business outcomes.
  • Embed security, identity, and data-protection requirements into designs, partnering with security stakeholders and leveraging the enterprise's identity, secrets management, and network security controls.
  • Maintain solution design documentation and build technology roadmaps and reference material pertinent to the products of responsibility.
  • Actively participate in (and facilitate as needed) required architecture and governance reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and improve operational metrics — monitoring, alerting, logging, building pipelines, and testing — supporting reliability and observability.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and platform capabilities, recommending their adoption where they advance Casey's business and technology strategy.
  • Familiar managing Enterprise capabilities and catalogs and experience in understanding EA Frameworks (TOGAF).
  • Creating system diagrams for new and existing ecosystems that is appropriate for business and technical stakeholders at various levels of detail and context.
  • Full architecture responsibilities of one or more technical/business domains.
Requirements
  • This position requires authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based immigration sponsorship now or in the future. Casey’s will not provide sponsorship or employer support for applications or petitions for F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, J-1, or any other employment-based visa.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology discipline or equivalent work-related experience.
  • 3+ years working in Technical Architecture with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with the software lifecycle (building, deploying, testing, and…
