Position: Lead Process Engineer - Small Mold 1st Shift

Lead Process Engineer

Train and develop New Process Engineers and the Process Technician teams. Sample new tooling and develop a robust process using scientific molding methods. Support production in Micro Mold or Small Mold. Work in parallel with the Project Teams to ensure the needs of our customers are met.

Develop and document a robust process on all new tools using scientific molding techniques to ensure that new tools are production ready. Preform DOE studies as well as OQ/PQ qualifications on required tools to ensure we have a processing window to allow for variation in resin viscosity.

Develop and document robust Work instructions, MPS's, Core sequence instructions and any other documents needed for the production team to be successful.

Work with the Project teams to ensure that we are meeting our customers' expectations. Attend meetings with both the customer as well as internal teams as required.

Direct the daily activities of the Process Engineering team and provide support where needed.

Trouble shoot in a logical, systematic manner. Perform minor maintenance on molds and machines.

Must be self-directed and capable of establishing, maintaining and executing schedules and plans with minimal supervision from direct manager.

Stays current on new equipment, process controls, materials developments, and other technical advances that offer a competitive advantage.

Document and communicate the mold performance of FOT's and FOT cleanups which includes sample details and recommendations on improvements to be made to the tool if needed to ensure it will meet production demands with the Project Engineer and Design team.

Train, mentor and upskill new Process Technicians and Process Engineers to ensure that they understand the process and to drive implementation of problem solving techniques.

Provide accountability of the team and recommendations for improvements including coaching on performance issues.

Provide production support and lead by example while following company policies and standards. Promote safety, environmental and ergonomic initiatives.

Communicate production problems with management and attend appropriate meetings as necessary to help solve production issues or conditions that limit the efficient use of machines and tools.

Safety, FA parts shipped on time, Scrap and Yield loss, and customer complaints.

Leads effectively during critical timelines.

Bachelor's degree in engineering or suitable combination of education and experience of its equal. Eight to ten years' Process Engineering experience within the injection molding industry with a strong background in scientific molding techniques.

Ability to operate personal computer, copy machine and telephone required. Proven accuracy in keyboarding skills to enter data correctly and efficiently. Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word preferred.

Proven reading and written communication skills required with the ability to comprehend, and interpret instructions and standards from manuals or other materials. Ability to effectively present information or training to employees, in one-on-one and small group situations.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Knowledge of rate, ratios, percent and use of trigonometry. Ability to read and understand specification drawings complicated designs and drawings for inspection

Ability to interpret standards or guidelines and apply to actual variables required. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Willingness to attend conferences, classes or training to enhance and update knowledge and skills. Ability to work with various personnel in departments to reach consensus on work related issues. On occasion may be requested to travel for company business. Maybe requested to work overtime as dictated by production need. Must be able to maintain a professional relationship with fellow workers and the general public.

Carry out supervisory duties by guiding daily workflow, providing coaching, and ensuring quality, but not administrative actions like hiring, termination, or formal salary reviews.

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to sit/stand and move throughout the facility. Uses hands to manipulate very small parts or tweezers. Sense of touch may be used to detect texture, burs and edges. Normal or corrected to normal vision is required with good color vision, close vision, and ability to use…
