When the third shift comes alive in our Ankeny, Iowa plant, you move between molding presses and packing stations with purpose. You confirm that labels match specs, operators are following control plans, and machines are set to run within tolerance. You spot color shifts, subtle dimensional drift, or paperwork gaps before they become customer problems. You place nonconforming parts on hold, capture clear, timely documentation, and loop in Production and Quality Supervisors so we can respond fast.
And you fuel continuous improvement by participating in SPC, capability studies, and Quality Management System initiatives.

Role purposeAs a Quality Auditor on the overnight team, you help design, implement, and enforce our quality control program so products consistently meet company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations—protecting product integrity from press to finished goods.

What you’ll do- Verify operator inspection and testing activities to maintain continuous control of materials, parts, packaging, palletization, and labeling per defined requirements.
- Ensure accurate production traceability records are maintained according to quality procedures.
- Confirm product labels are printed correctly with the right information for each item.
- Review material placed on hold and determine compliance with customer specifications and internal standards.
- Assist with internal and external quality issues and carry out corrective actions.
- Engage in continuous improvement, including SPC, capability studies, and Quality Management System work.
- Conduct random audits on jobs with known risks and collaborate with Manufacturing Supervisors, Managers, and Engineering to drive improvements.
- Execute quality checks per the control plan and record results accurately and on time.
- Monitor parts as they’re packed into finished goods to uphold a Zero Defects standard.
- Perform visual, dimensional, and color inspections as required by procedures.
- Audit machines daily to verify proper setup and adherence to standards.
- Ensure processes run in line with established quality standards, aiming for Zero Defects.
- Document audit findings and communicate results to the appropriate supervisors.
- Place nonconforming product on hold per procedures and notify Quality and Production Supervisors of rejects.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
- Accurate color discrimination; able to pass a color vision test with “Normal” results.
- Ability to learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Comfort reading safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and standard procedures.
- Clear written communication for routine reports, forms, and correspondence.
- Basic math (proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume).
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with common office or quality software.
- Proficiency with measurement tools to verify product characteristics.
- Practical problem-solving and the ability to follow written, oral, and diagrammed instructions.
- Skill in addressing issues involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
- Strong communication and positive collaboration with teammates and supervisors.
- Commitment to ongoing training and skill development.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Regular use of hands and fingers for detailed tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively via speaking and hearing.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and reaching with hands/arms.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds.
- Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
