Role Overview

Night Stock Manager ensures the overnight stock operations run efficiently and safely. The role sets department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability, while supervising night stock employees.

Additional Considerations

Must be 18 years old or older. Overnight shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a positive, friendly atmosphere and lead crew with teamwork and flexibility.
  • Provide prompt, courteous customer service, addressing customers by name whenever possible.
  • Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, noting suggestions, and performing related tasks.
  • Answer telephone calls promptly and provide helpful service.
  • Order products from warehouse, pre‑orders for groceries, non‑foods, and supplies, and coordinate with assistant managers.
  • Supervise night stock crew: assign duties, conduct consultations, and host training sessions.
  • Coordinate CARS system: inventory sub‑dock sections, set reorder triggers, maintain system, and generate orders.
  • Unload trucks, break down pallets, pull pallets to back room, and sort items appropriately.
  • Check in vendor deliveries, supervise drop shipments and direct store deliveries.
  • Write and manage night stock schedules, monitor time‑off, vacation, and sick requests, and review overtime hours.
  • Maintain equipment: troubleshoot store equipment such as electrical, cash registers, coolers, compressors, display cases, and machine room.
  • Train new employees on pulling, tagging, UPCs, checking, sacking, stocking, and supervise supervisors on register handling and customer service.
  • Monitor productivity, conduct individual reviews with crew members.
  • Run back stock and understock (cereal, paper, juice), fill holes as needed.
  • Assist with customer service tasks: checkout, checking, sacking, carry‑outs, cash accountability, day‑end reports, closing and opening registers.
  • Set and reset new items, tags, and prices, and manage in‑store specials.
  • Supervise produce and frozen food trucks during unloading and ensure proper cooler placement.
  • Perform additional job‑related duties and special projects as required.
  • Plan work, allocate personnel, coordinate activities of others, and maintain department standards.
  • Recruit new employees, handle employee problems, recommend promotions, discipline, and terminations, and advise on salary increases.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Strong arithmetic skills: fractions, decimals, percentages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to compose correspondence and interpret instructions.
  • Interviews job applicants and follows technical manuals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with frequent contact with people.
Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. Three to five years of similar or related work experience.

Physical Requirements
  • Perform heavy work, occasionally lifting or moving up to 100 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, reach, handle, grasp, and repeat motions as required.
  • Visual: see detail at near range with or without correction.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying objects not exceeding 10 pounds.
Working Conditions

Occasional exposure to noise, vibrations, equipment movement hazard, chemicals/solvents, and frequent dirt.

Equipment Used
  • Computer, compressor, C.A.R.S. system, power jack, compactor, check register, forklift, scales, Tomra machines, two‑wheeler, and box cutter.
Financial Responsibility
  • Cash registers, pre‑orders and regular orders, inventory, CARS system and its orders, pricing items/books, and received deliveries.
