Job Summary
Mechanic III (Electrician or Machinist). 2nd shift – 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday. $33.69/hour. Company‑paid, competency‑based courses may be required. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) with 100% match up to 4% of salary, uniforms and on‑site cafeteria.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Install, repair and maintain machinery and equipment specific to operations in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings, operations manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications.
- Diagnose malfunctions in production machinery and equipment, service, repair and replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools, and test machines/equipment performance.
- Operate and repair equipment safely to minimize risk to personnel and damage to equipment and inventory.
- Maintain sanitary conditions while performing work.
- Calibrate and adjust production machinery and equipment to improve operational capabilities.
- Provide technical assistance in set‑up and changeover of production equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment and document the tasks performed.
- Identify ways to improve production methods and work with line personnel.
- Modify machinery and equipment as directed by Engineering to improve functional performance.
- Rebuild and install functional parts of production machinery.
- Collaborate with outside vendors to enhance in‑house maintenance capabilities.
- Assist Engineering in implementing and modifying maintenance programs.
- Maintain and service external components of the dust‑collection system.
- Perform other duties as assigned (not an essential function).
- Mechanical aptitude including basic understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical and piping systems, and the ability to identify and understand mechanical components and their relationships in a mechanism.
- Knowledge of various machines, their operation and parts; proficiency in using work‑related tools in design, repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety rules and precautions of mechanical/electrical systems.
- Ability to perform math operations to solve work‑related problems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems associated with work processes by applying job‑specific knowledge.
- Effective communication, training and instruction of new mechanics and operators, and collaboration with Engineering on new machinery.
- Ability to read and understand set‑up/operational diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals and manufacturing specifications for plant machinery.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Strong teamwork, organization and capacity to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, interests and viewpoints.
- Must obtain forklift certification within 60 days after starting the job.
- High school diploma or GED required; prior industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability in hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, power transmissions, lubrication, pumps, pipe rigging, mechanical maintenance, shop‑machine operation, use of tools, combustion, motors, schematics, print reading and basic AC/DC theory.
- Must pass required maintenance testing and demonstrate hands‑on ability and knowledge in these areas.
- On‑site training specific to job responsibilities plus completion of an off‑site Competency‑Based Education Program.
- Install and repair electrical systems, control and power distribution components and circuits for single and three‑phase systems using manuals, diagrams, blueprints and specifications.
- Plan layout, install, maintain, repair or replace wiring, electrical fixtures, control panels and equipment.
- Test and diagnose malfunctioning systems, components and apparatus with test equipment, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Repair or replace faulty electrical and electronic components and circuitry in machines and equipment, including relays, switches, transformers, motors, bearings, rewired motors, sensor devices and printed circuit boards. Verify repairs with test equipment.
