Required Skills and Knowledge

Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building repairs
Familiarity with state and local childcare facility regulations and safety codes
Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environments
Read, write, and communicate effectively in English

Education

High school diploma or GED required

Experience

Proven experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a school, daycare, or similar environment

Certifications

Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing fields preferred
Technical certification in maintenance-related fields is a plus

Job Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security. Ensure that classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas remain in excellent condition, addressing any repair needs promptly.

Respond quickly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs to ensure a safe and uninterrupted learning environment. Conduct general facility upkeep, including minor carpentry, painting, and plumbing repairs.

Maintain playground equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Regularly inspect and repair doors, locks, gates, and security systems to ensure child safety.

Follow health and safety protocols, including proper handling of cleaning supplies and ensuring compliance with licensing and state childcare facility regulations. Work closely with administrative and teaching staff to address facility concerns effectively.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and completed repairs. Assist with seasonal maintenance tasks, such as snow removal or landscaping as needed.
