Service Technician Team Leader
The Service Technician Team Leader is responsible for providing hands-on leadership and technical support to a team of 2–8 Service Technicians while performing service and repair of clients' mechanical equipment. This role supports equipment start-up, troubleshooting, and maintenance, as well as providing technical assistance to team members and job sites; and coordinates with vendors as needed. The Team Leader delivers quality service and builds strong client relationships in support of Baker Group's "Client for Life" philosophy.

- Demonstrate and reinforce Baker Group's service values, standards, and commitment to exceptional client service.
- Promote client satisfaction by supporting Service Technicians and responding to client questions, concerns, and service needs.
- Partner with Service Coordinators to assign service calls based on technician skills, experience, availability, and client needs.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance and support to team members, including troubleshooting service-call and after-hours issues.
- Support the ongoing development of team members by identifying training needs, coordinating specialized training, and providing coaching and mentorship.
- Conduct annual goal-setting and performance reviews for assigned team members.
- Ensure team members have required safety training, personal protective equipment, tools, and resources to perform their work safely and effectively.
- Ensure service vehicles are maintained in accordance with company cleanliness and organization standards.
- Monitor preventive maintenance (PM) agreements to ensure work is completed accurately, thoroughly, and on schedule.
- Coordinate specialized tool and equipment needs for team members.
- Participate in Service Division meetings as requested.
- Assist with estimates and quotes for service agreements, repairs, and small projects in collaboration with Service Sales.
- Partner with the Service Operations Manager and Vice President to support departmental business, operational, and financial goals.
- Maintain accurate and timely daily labor, time, and equipment reporting.
- Work overtime and provide after-hours support as business and client needs require.
High school diploma or GED required. Completion of a five-year Local 33 Apprenticeship Program, vocational/technical school program, or equivalent training. Demonstrated hand-on experience servicing, troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems. Previous supervisory experience a plus. Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and schematics. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude. Working knowledge of computers and job-related software.
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Universal refrigerant certification or license, as required.
- Applicable state and trade licenses or certifications, which may include HVAC, refrigeration, hydronic, and plumbing.
- Federal EPA Refrigeration
- OSHA 10-Hour and/or OSHA 30-Hour certification, as required.
- Completion of required safety training and certifications.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal communication. Strong leadership skills. Excellent organization and adaptability skills. Demonstrated ability to relate to contractors and their employees. Must be able to work independently with little supervision. Ability to travel to Iowa worksites; overnight travel not anticipated. Adaptability to a changing workplace, in all weather conditions, in an office and job site setting.
Comfort with time reporting systems.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and heavier loads with team or mechanical assistance.
- Significant field and client interactions on construction job sites, which may require prolonged periods of standing, walking and/or climbing stairs.
- May work in varying temperatures and weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain and other environmental conditions.
Clothing: all cotton, boots. PPE (steel toe/composite toe boots, safety glasses, any other job requirements). Lifting devices. Fork lift. Scissor lift. Basket lift. Crane signaling. Chain pull. Winch. Rope.
