Boom Truck and Lattice Crane Diagnostic Technician

At MGX, we trust technicians to protect uptime and safety for every lift. As a shop-based expert reporting to the Service Manager, you’ll inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile cranes and boom trucks—and verify your work meets OEM standards every time.

Your impact

Run comprehensive crane inspections to isolate faults.

Diagnose and repair mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; service hydraulic and electrical systems.

Assess wear with micrometers and gauges; interpret manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.

Function-test mechanical, electronic, electrical, and hydraulic systems post-repair to confirm OEM compliance.

Pre-stage parts and validate drawings for job readiness.

Perform detailed annual inspections.

Complete work reports, time sheets, hours overviews, and expenses accurately.

Operate independently with little to no supervision.

Provide top-tier customer service.

Other duties as assigned.

What it takes

High School Diploma or GED; minimum two (2) years as a Crane Mechanic/Technician preferred.

Experience with Grove RT & TMS;
Grove GMK (European);
Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional;
National Boom Trucks preferred.

Proficiency with electrical and hydraulic schematics.

Clear, customer-focused communication skills.

Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.

Basic computer skills preferred.

Must own a full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.

Where and when you’ll work

Full-time schedule: typically 7:00 am to 4:00 pm; overtime and weekend work may occur depending on business conditions.
