Job Overview

Universal Logistics is expanding in the Ankeny, IA area and we are looking for quality local switcher drivers for home daily positions.

• 1st shift: 6:30am–3:00pm ($26.25/hr)
• 2nd Shift: 2:30PM–11:00PM ($27.00/hr)
• 3rd Shift: 10:00PM–6:30AM ($27.75/hr)
• OT after 40 hours

• Moving 53ft Dry Van trailers in and out of docks
• Small yard with about 24–35 moves a shift
• May be moving trailers to and from separate yards
• Complying with all company & client safety regulations
• Handling daily switcher duties: opening/closing doors when backing in/out of dock doors
• Assisting OTR drivers
• Checking trailer numbers and seals against paperwork when moving between yards
• Inspecting trailers prior to moving for DOT certification and general safety concerns
• Reporting to leads and security as needed

• ClassA CDL
• No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years
• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
• No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years
• 3 months verifiable tractor trailer experience OR recent trucking school certification
