Position Title:
Dock Coordinator Wage: $24.00/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours:
7:00am - 4:00pm
Join our team as a Dock Coordinator in Ankeny, IA, where you'll play a key role in keeping warehouse operations running efficiently by coordinating shipping, receiving, and daily dock activity. This fast-paced position works closely with drivers, warehouse staff, and supply chain teams to ensure freight moves smoothly, accurately, and on schedule. We're looking for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is committed to delivering exceptional operational support.
DockCoordinator Responsibilities
- Check drivers in and out, verifying load details, appointments, and required documentation
- Coordinate daily dock activity in a fast-paced environment handling a variety of freight including full truckloads and LTL shipments
- Assign and prioritize tasks for shipping and receiving staff in alignment with the Warehouse Manager's daily staffing plan
- Monitor dock flow throughout the shift and adjust work assignments to maintain efficiency and minimize delays
- Collaborate with receiving and production teams to plan inbound product placement and manage dock availability
- Communicate regularly with the Supply Chain team regarding order status, dock scheduling, and truck arrivals/departures
- Ensure accurate processing and filing of shipping and receiving paperwork according to company standards
- Track and update shipment status to maintain visibility of inbound and outbound loads
- Address issues such as schedule changes, documentation discrepancies, or carrier delays in a timely and professional manner
- 2+ years of experience in warehouse, shipping/receiving, logistics coordination, or dock operations preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple trucks, priorities, and tasks simultaneously
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with drivers, warehouse staff, and internal departments
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, delegate tasks, and maintain efficient dock flow
- Experience handling shipping and receiving documentation with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic computer skills and experience with warehouse management systems, shipping software, or ERP systems preferred
- Ability to problem-solve quickly and adjust to schedule changes, freight delays, or operational challenges
- Ability to work on your feet in a warehouse environment and frequently lift up to 20 lbs
