Our client, a growing manufacturing company in Macomb County, is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join their team. This role is responsible for processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, maintaining accurate payroll records, and supporting general accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have previous payroll experience in a manufacturing environment, strong knowledge of payroll laws and tax requirements, and excellent attention to detail.

- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Ensure payroll accuracy, including overtime, shift premiums, bonuses, garnishments, and deductions
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll-related journal entries
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities
- Assist with payroll tax filings, W-2 preparation, and payroll audits
- Collaborate with Human Resources regarding employee changes, benefits, and compensation updates
- Generate payroll reports and provide analysis to management as needed
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions when required
- Ensure confidentiality and security of employee and payroll information
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
- Understanding of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and wage laws
- Experience processing payroll for hourly employees, including overtime and shift differentials
- Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Manufacturing industry experience
- Multi-state payroll processing experience
- Knowledge of labor law compliance and payroll tax regulations
- Experience supporting accounting functions beyond payroll
