Job Description
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Assistant Controller in Lansing, Michigan. The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the accounting functions within our team, including accounts payable and receivable, cost accounting, and inventory management. The successful candidate will also be tasked with maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities- Oversee the accounts payable process with a particular focus on the supply chain
- Manage accounts receivable and ensure accuracy in customer records
- Handle revenue recognition tasks, taking into account unique contracts and their implications
- Conduct cost accounting and calculate gross margins
- Classify balance sheet items and ensure accuracy
- Manage the month-end close process within set timelines
- Review transactional level work to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Oversee the accounting for new production facilities and track covenants with financial institutions
- Manage the inventory accounting process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare financial reports and packages using accounting software systems
The Assistant Controller role demands proficiency in various accounting software systems and a thorough understanding of accounting functions. Knowledge of ADP, Financial Services, Concur, Crystal Reports, and DCAA systems will be beneficial. The role also requires experience with accounts payable and receivable, auditing, and billing functions.
Qualifications- Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
- Experience with ADP, Financial Services
- Familiarity with Concur software
- Knowledge of Crystal Reports
- Understanding of DCAA regulations and procedures
- Ability to perform essential accounting functions
- Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Familiarity with auditing procedures and practices
- Experience in managing billing functions
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work based on importance and deadlines
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a related field
- Professional certification such as CPA is preferred
- Proven experience as an Assistant Controller or other similar position
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically
