Position: Office Professional 2 - Special Education

SUMMARY

This is a clerical position that requires excellent multi-tasking and superb customer service skills, as well as the ability to work independently. Outstanding interpersonal and problem-solving skills are also an asset. The candidate must have an affinity for collaboration and the ability to be flexible in the face of shifting priorities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices and position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to examine how his/her/their position (directly or indirectly) impacts educational inequities in student achievement outcomes.
  • Engages in reflection and ongoing learning and development on critical concepts and terms identified in the Washtenaw ISD Educational Equity Policy including concepts such as cultural proficiency, racial equity, and systemic and structural inequities.
  • Understands and complies with local District policies, procedures related to special education, instruction and technology.
  • Maintains various databases and prepares management reports for electronic data collection systems.
  • Demonstrates ability to utilize student database management system to complete tasks.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in electronic student database system for inputting, exporting and organizing.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with various software programs i.e., (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, ET, Power School, School Dude, and Meal Magic).
  • Provides technical support to staff related to Power School.
  • Organizes staff materials, creating documents using various electronic formats, preparing employee development training materials, newsletters, and school web page.
  • Supports teaching staff.
  • Utilizes Groupwise to arrange schedules.
  • Provides budget reports, account reconciliation, purchase orders, purchase order tracking, and account history for departmental accounts.
  • Orders materials using a variety of vendors; considers cost and quality to establish responsible purchasing of materials.
  • Creates purchase orders in the financial database.
  • Organizes summer program, databases, employee lists, supplies, and transportation.
  • Maintains school calendars, building schedules for various programs in the building, record keeping, daily attendance data, and lunch data.
  • Monitors and maintains office equipment.
  • Delivers U.S. and interoffice mail to staff.
  • Works with Parent Student Organization (financial transactions, creating documents, and flyers).
  • Provides excellent customer service, knowledge of staff, and knowledge of the school building layout.
  • Demonstrates excellent phone etiquette and knowledge of phone systems.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism with the ability to maintain a flexible attitude.
  • Demonstrates a desire for continuous learning.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience; high school graduate or equivalent with business school training or any equivalent combination of experience - preferred.
  • Extensive experience in a progressively responsible position in a clerical environment.
  • Interest in being a part of a learning organization and committed to helping schools with improvement and instructional issues - preferred.
  • Knowledge of Google (documents, drive, classroom).
  • Experience with publishing tools such as Microsoft Publisher - preferred.
  • Previous experience working with a financial and/or purchasing electronic application.

  • Demonstrates ability to read and interpret documents such as grants, journal articles, curriculum guides, and handbooks and follow instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Demonstrates ability to do math functions using calculator and/or MS Excel.
  • Demonstrates ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs using MS Excel.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of a personal computer (PC) in a networked environment to utilize the Internet and other electronic communications mechanisms such as email conferencing, and other communication tools and platforms.

  • Demonstrates ability to print, copy, scan, organize, and collate materials.
