Office Assistant ~ Supporting Detroit & Ann Arbor Offices

Status:
Full Time
Weekdays, with travel between offices as weekly schedules dictate

Legacy Adoption Services (LAS) is a trusted adoption provider in Michigan, formed through a long-standing partnership between Samaritas and Wellspring Lutheran Services. For over four decades, LAS has supported children who cannot be raised by their birth families by connecting them with safe, loving adoptive homes.

What You'll Do

As the Office Assistant, you'll help keep our office running efficiently while providing outstanding customer service to clients, visitors, and team members.

Your Impact Will Include:
  • Serving as the first point of contact by greeting visitors and creating a welcoming experience.
  • Answering and routing phone calls, taking messages, and responding to inquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Providing information about Samaritas programs and services and connecting individuals to the appropriate resources.
  • Preparing correspondence, processing documents, and supporting general office operations.
  • Assisting with packet preparation, mailings, copying, scanning, filing, and record management.
  • Sorting and distributing incoming mail and coordinating outgoing communications.
  • Ordering office supplies and helping maintain inventory.
  • Processing invoices and supporting administrative financial functions.
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, office events, and arrangements for refreshments or lunches.
  • Providing backup support for team members and assisting with special projects as needed.
  • Maintaining organized filing systems and ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Working independently while supporting a collaborative, mission-driven team.
What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional and welcoming demeanor.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, One Drive, and basic Excel.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and automobile insurance as required by program needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of clerical, administrative, reception, or office support experience.
