Job SummaryThe Training Specialist Senior serves as the primary lead for training and development within Nursing Clerical Services, part of Central Staffing Resource (CSR). This role is responsible for identifying the skills and training needs of the clerical team, designing and delivering structured education programs, and supporting onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing development of inpatient unit clerks and clerical staff across supported units.
The position plays a key role in promoting standardized practices, supporting operational and organizational initiatives, and ensuring clerical staff are prepared to meet workflow, regulatory, and patient experience expectations.
This role also serves as the Safety Liaison for Clerical Services, supporting a culture of safety, compliance, and staff readiness.
This is an onsite position.
Responsibilities- Independently design, develop, and implement onboarding and training programs for clerical staff, including inpatient unit clerks.
- Deliver instructor‑led training, orientation, and on‑the‑job education for new hires and existing staff.
- Assess training needs through collaboration with leadership and operational partners.
- Provide consultation to leaders on individual development needs and development planning.
- Develop and maintain training materials, competency tools, and job aids aligned with clinical workflows and organizational standards.
- Ensure training content reflects Michigan Medicine policies, procedures, and system workflows.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, competency validation, and performance outcomes.
- Maintain accurate training records, monitor compliance, and conduct audits.
- Support the implementation of new systems, workflows, and organizational initiatives through structured education plans.
- Promote standardization and consistency of clerical practices across CSR and supported departments.
- Provide consultation and coaching to leadership and staff on training, onboarding, and skill development needs.
- Analyze training and operational data to identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions.
- Lead or support projects, committees, and initiatives related to training, operations, and quality.
- Prepare and present reports on training activities, outcomes, and compliance metrics.
- Serve as the designated Safety Liaison for Nursing Clerical Services.
- Promote adherence to safety policies, procedures, and a culture of safety.
- Ensure clerical staff are trained in emergency response procedures, infection prevention, and workplace safety practices.
- Partner with Safety, Quality, and Infection Prevention teams to support initiatives and compliance requirements.
- Participate in safety rounds, audits, and safety‑related meetings.
- Communicate safety updates, risks, and process changes to staff and leadership.
- Support incident reporting, follow‑up, and education to mitigate risk and improve outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in Adult Learning, Education, Instructional Design, Communication, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5-8 years of experience in training, staff development, education, or a related field.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, training concepts, and instructional design methods.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
