Location: Michigan (Hybrid) – Muskegon/Norton Shores or Grand Rapids, MI (based on candidate location)
Position OverviewOur client is seeking a Customer Energy Management Project Coordinator I to join their Customer Energy Management team. This position is open as a backfill for a contractor who accepted a full-time opportunity. Reporting to the Supervisor of Customer Energy Management, this role serves as the primary point of contact for customers requesting new electrical service, service upgrades, or additional power for residential and commercial properties.
This is a customer-facing, project coordination role that requires strong communication, organization, and relationship management skills. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects simultaneously while coordinating with customers and numerous internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
This is a hybrid position requiring onsite work Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
, with approximately 30% field work
, including customer visits and construction site meetings within the greater Grand Rapids and Muskegon service areas.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers requesting new electrical service, upgrades, or additional power.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 50–60 active customer projects simultaneously.
- Coordinate projects from initial request through completion, ensuring customer needs and project timelines are met.
- Conduct customer meetings both virtually and onsite at residential and commercial construction locations.
- Gather project information including utility requirements, equipment needs, and site details through customer communication and field visits.
- Perform onsite visits to collect information and document project requirements, including taking site photographs as needed.
- Collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including design teams, construction and operations personnel, permitting agencies, and other cross-functional business partners.
- Maintain clear and timely communication via phone, email, and virtual meetings.
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely distribution of project information to internal teams.
- Support increasingly complex residential and commercial projects as experience grows.
- Strong customer service experience with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple teams.
- Willingness to travel locally for customer and construction site visits (approximately 30%).
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience coordinating projects in utility, construction, engineering, or related industries.
- Familiarity with utility service requests or electrical infrastructure is a plus.
