Job Description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for overseeing Middle School home athletic events. Provide support to the Athletic Director and building administration to facilitate and coordinate athletic activities and ensure safe, organized, and positive experiences for student-athletes, coaches, officials, families, and spectators.

ESSENTIAL TASKS These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

  • Assist the Athletic Director in staffing and managing the operation of Middle School home athletic events. Staffing may include game workers, officials, security, custodial support, concessions, and other personnel as needed.
  • Ensure athletic facilities and competition areas are prepared and ready prior to each event.
  • Coordinate with coaches, officials, visiting teams, and event personnel upon arrival and assist with event-related needs.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate crowd control, safety, and emergency procedures to ensure the safety and enjoyment of spectators and participants.
  • Maintain a visible presence with students, staff, parents, spectators, and community members throughout assigned events.
  • Monitor student and spectator areas and address behavioral, sportsmanship, or safety concerns as appropriate.
  • Assist with district ticketing and admission procedures, including cashless/digital ticketing when applicable.
  • Submit required paperwork for athletic events, including payment information for game workers and officials, incident reports, and other required event documentation.
  • Communicate facility, safety, behavioral, officiating, or event concerns to the Athletic Director and/or building administration.
  • Assist with parent or spectator concerns before, during, and after events. If concerns are not resolved, the Athletic Director or appropriate administrator will be the next step in the Chain of Command.
  • Assist with schedule changes, cancellations, facility conflicts, and other event logistics in coordination with the Athletic Director.
  • Maintain familiarity with the Middle School athletic schedule and communicate event-related changes to appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure facilities are appropriately secured and event responsibilities are completed at the conclusion of assigned events.
  • Serve as the on-site district representative for Middle School athletic events when the Athletic Director or building administrator is not present.
  • Work with the High School Athletic Director and building principals when a need arises and is agreed upon by all parties. The Games Manager may provide coverage for athletic events across the district when needed.
  • Perform related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to serve as a liaison at Middle School athletic events with students, parents, coaches, officials, staff, administrators, visiting schools, and community members; ability to communicate effectively and professionally; ability to multitask while coordinating several activities simultaneously; ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment when responding to conflicts, emergencies, or unexpected situations; must possess strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

EXPERIENCE Experience as a coach, advisor, athletic event worker, school employee, or in a related supervisory role preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Duties may be performed indoors or outdoors and in varying weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.
