Project Controls Estimator
We are seeking a Project Controls Estimator to join our team on a contract-to-direct basis. This position involves developing and reviewing capital, construction, and service cost estimates across various market sectors, primarily focusing on the power/utility industry. Initially, the role requires full-time presence in our Ann Arbor office for the first 5-6 months. Upon demonstrating effectiveness and independence, a more flexible, hybrid schedule may be offered.
Responsibilities- Develop, evaluate, compile, and present scope and cost data for construction and project estimates.
- Work on estimates for planning, evaluation/study, or proposal comparison purposes.
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret construction plans and specifications for cost estimates.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of estimates within defined parameters.
- Coordinate with design and construction staff to gather estimate scope and schedule data.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Construction Science Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Fundamental knowledge of General Contracting, EPC construction methods, and industry practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and cost estimating/project control software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to active participation in an employee-owned culture.
Skills & Qualifications
- Certifications such as AEP, CCT, CEP, CACM, CMIT, PSP, EVP, PMI-SP, EIT.
- Proficiency in estimating software like Sage, Assemble, RS Means.
- Experience in the construction industry, particularly in Waste, Power, or Industrial sectors.
- Ability to interpret construction schedules.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
The role requires working in the office five days a week initially. After proving the ability to work independently and impactfully, a hybrid schedule may be allowed. The office environment is dynamic, focusing on large projects in power and industrial sectors, with opportunities for professional growth and development.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ann Arbor, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.46 - $62.50/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
